As an aside, you may have noticed a few things in the lists above that warrant some explanation (this being the blog's first release list and all).

First off, any Point One comics released by Marvel are a part of an introduction initiative to let new readers jump on board with current titles. They are usually stand alone stories that introduce the common story elements and characters of each title, while hinting at future events to encourage future reading. Those that I've gotten the chance to read are actually quite good, and offer great chances to get in on a storyline for new readers.

Second, you may have noticed a few Marvel releases with FEAR ITSELF and SPIDER ISLAND involvement. These are the two current Marvel Universe Wide Crossover events, with FEAR ITSELF having started at the beginning of the summer just past, and SPIDER ISLAND having begun in early August. Each title has various tie-ins and One-shots associated with them, so if your looking to flesh out some of either story's background these might interest you.

Finally, you'll notice there are quite a few Issue 1 comics under DC's offerings. This is due to DC's NEW 52 initiative, which basically entails a universe wide reboot of the 52 main comics that make up DC's Universe.  The goal of the NEW 52 is to make the DC heroes more modern and relatable to both bring in new readers and create fresh story opportunities for weaker selling titles. I am admittedly not a big DC guy (except Batman... but come on, he IS Batman).  I'll be reviewing the NEW 52 in more detail in a later post since I am basically among it's target audience (i.e. new readers).

That's all for today! If you want to order any of the releases mentioned or just peruse some back catalog, you can do both at either of these links:

Issue 1: Tales Of The 30 Page Purveyor!

Hello one and all (or all of one, as the case may be)! I am your humble vendor and guide to tripping the print fantastic (or teller of comic news and opinions, if your lack my melodramatic flare). Any-who... at least twice a week, I'll be scouring the darkest, nerdiest corners of the net to bring you the newest in comic news, opinions, controversies, sales, and other related happenings.  If comics are your thing then this is the place to get your fix, and even if you're the hesitant or just plain curious types this blog will help you check out all the major goings on in the world of comics without fear of judgement (or forum flaming).  So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Matt
